“Our possessions will outlast us” - Ian McEwan

Posted in Thoughts by Kate

I just finished Saturday; it was a good book, although I think Mr. McEwan needs a little work on his endings. I also enjoyed his book Atonement, again with ending issues for me anyway. I’m back on my C.S. Lewis kick, with two more novels to finish the Chronicles of Narnia. Not sure what I’ll pick up next, I really do enjoy my audio books, it makes traffic not so bad, and at times I find my self sitting in the car wanting to finish a chapter even though I’ve arrived at my destination.

I went to this store called bird crazy yesterday, and wow I saw some amazing creatures. The most noteworthy I’d have to say was a pair of toucans. Absolutely beautiful, there was something majestic about them. Toucan Sam off the children’s cereal box truly does a disservice to this marvelous creature. Their colors are so vibrant and came across as a classy creature, if that makes any sense. There were some other really cool birds there as well. They were out in the open, not as classy as the toucans, they were all up in their tail feathers chewing on their butts or what have you. But those toucans; WOW. I don’t even know why it struck me so much that I’m still thinking about them today.

Yesterday I was somewhat blaaaah, but I had a terrific lunch with super K and met my man for a showing of the second half of “The Name of the Rose” at state. I didn’t sleep much the night before, I had been up until about 3am reviewing some calculations as I prepare for the NAPLEX. I’ve chosen Texas as my state to get my license. Not sure if that’s where we’ll be, but of the nine states to choose from it offered the least expensive application fee. Exciting times are months away for Team Shea.

take care,
