Can’t go to sleep before midnight on your birthday

Posted in Thoughts by Kate

Oh what a day. Today was my Mom’s birthday, and we sure did it up right. We had breakfast together, spent the day together, then came home and got ready for dinner and the concert. The Pacific Coast Grill is very good. After a fabulous dinner we went to the Belly Up to see Amos Lee in concert. I’ve never been to the Belly Up and thought the venue would be more lounge like with lots of little tables surrounding a stage. Well no, the Belly Up is a bar with a dance floor, stage, and stools and chairs scattered through out. So yup, I took my Mom to a bar for her birthday.
But, what a show it was. Not only is Amos Lee superb, but some other concert goers provided some excellent entertainment as well. So we’re sitting together and once Amos finally started his show a bunch of people decided to stand in front of us and talk. A young woman behind us (I’m thinking she was the president of the Amos Lee fan club) confronted these two large men (looked like they were of the Marine persuasion) and their dates. She asked them to be quiet or talk outside. Well one of the lovely dates was completely sloshed. She was all over her date, rubbing his back, giving him a little rump massage, no problem. She then ceased this activity and began to rub the back of the other young woman in their party to which her date replied “hey where you going?” Mind you this all during the concert. The second young lady did not appreciate this gesture so the inebriated woman then decided to rub the hand of my Mom and befriend her; especially since she was scolded by the fan club president. At that point the young man escorting the sloshed blonde cut off her booze supply.
This concert was a great place to people watch. An unfortunate young man (again of the Marine persuasion) had a nose that began with his forehead. I’m sure it is very effective for him, he can probably smell the enemy miles away and prepare his team for their arrival. He was having a great time dancing and schmoozing with the honeys. Unfortunately, he went home alone, the smell of defeat. We had a great time and looking forward to tomorrow; breakfast with the family & some friends at Hash House and then the Charger game.

I am quite pooped and must rest, need to sleep.

It’s not quite Wednesday, but it is awfully close. The visit was absolutely awesome. We did very well. I bought pizza for my staff and we even had cookies. I am so glad I took this store. I still have a ton of work to do to make the place my own and organize it the way I like.

Talk to my bro tonight, sounds like he won’t be home for the holidays, guess it kinda goes with the territory of a new job and all. I am sending him a surprise package soon. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week already. Wow!

Gatsby is almost done with his abx course. Thank goodness. He & Church are really enjoying their new toy, ball hunting in a box with holes or something like that.

Saw some more reports about the Plan B controversy that really sucks. I hope this whole thing doesn’t give pharmacists in general a bad name. I fill these RXs all the time. I’ve even decided to get certified if the opportunity arises. Now I will sleep.

Wow, I’m tired, but it’s a really good tired. I’ve been at my new position for two weeks now. Since that very date I’ve had a random board inspection and this week we’re having a huge visit. I’m still trying to get all of my paper work organized. It’s a challenge, but I really like it, and glad I made this move. Looking forward to this coming weekend, we’re celebrating my Mom’s birthday with dinner and a concert: Pacific Coast Grill and Amos Lee up in North County. Then Sunday my Man and I are going to the Charger game. I am so excited. It’ll be my first professional football game, thanks to some great friends of ours. You know what, life is pretty terrific. Yeah, I work hard, work long hours, but I can’t complain. I’m very fortunate to be doing a job I love, although there are days I have to remind my self “I love my job, I love my job, I love my job” it seems there were a few days like that this week. Is it Wednesday yet? I can’t wait until Wednesday, I’m gonna sleep like nobody’s business and just chill out.
