In like a lion out like a lamb that’s how March is suppose to enter and exit. Obviously March 31st would be the lamb part; I don’t think that means a lamb’s fleece falling from the sky.
In the great words of our neighbor and friend: “Minnesota has 2 seasons: “Winter and Winter is coming” KC
Shams on my gams
I’m ready for SPRING!!!! My lawn looks like it has a five o’clock shadow. The grass blades are peaking through the snow. We had a beautiful week last week, temperatures got up into the 50s. I’ve heard 50 degrees is the temperature people put jackets on and take them off. The snow started to melt and it felt like spring was right around the corner. Guess what, it SNOWED. You know if Boston can dye their river green for St. Patrick’s Day, why can’t Minnesota dye the snow green? SPRING BREAK AND SPRING FEVER. I want the sun to shine damn it, well okay the sun shines, but I would really enjoy some heat from that huge gas ball in the galaxy.
As for other bits and parts of Team Shea, CC is putting one foot in front of the other, enjoys swim lessons, and she’s learning she can catch Gatsby. Hubby is working hard as usual. Looking forward to the end of the semester and the beginning of the salsa garden. By the way, did I mention we’re planning to visit the John Denver memorial?
take care
Seven months
Wow it’s been seven months since I’ve posted. I’ve had a lot going on. These past several months have been something. So here’s just a little blurb or so
August: boxes, boxes, boxes. The unpacking begins. Go back to work in the middle of the month. New state, different laws, but I still love my job. I like the people I work with and I still enjoy my job. I also like not being the boss, I had done it for so long I thought it would be awkward to be staff, but it’s working out very nicely.
September: Hubby is in the full swing of school. Holy Buckets we have SEVEN trees and no grass, just leaves everywhere. Our neighbor has a leaf vacuum, we have a rake. Our neighbor has grass and just a few hours after raking we still have no grass.
October: I’m one year older, spent my birthday with the family. (Can’t tease hubby about his age, well not until December anyway.) Still no grass just leaves SEVEN TREES! We adopt Kalypso. Happy Halloween, CC dresses up as Goldie the Golden Gopher (CC’s 1st Halloween)
November: Our heater dies, it’s getting cold. SEVEN TREES. New heater installed. Big Turkey Day in Des Moines.
December: Our 6th wedding anniversary. Still no grass, SNOW!!! It snowed the first weekend in December. It was really cool to put up Christmas decorations on our very own house. We bought our tree at a tree lot right on 65. CC’s first Christmas, we even have a fireplace to hang our stockings with care. At least when she’s old enough I won’t have to be creative like my folks were when they had to explain how Santa got into the house without a chimney. Happy Birthday Hubby (I can tease him again about his old age.)
January: What do you mean wind chill? 35 degrees BELOW zero. Still no grass, just snow. Do you know how difficult it is to pick up dog poop when it’s frozen? I got so sick of the cold I bought pineapple scented hand soap and just to remind my self of the pacific ocean I bought “ocean breeze” scented shampoo & conditioner. I never thought 20 degrees would ring the phrase “it’s nice out today.” Chargers looking good for playoffs… Ah man, I owe Terry coffee. (CHARGERS SUPERBOWL XLIII)
February: HAPPY BIRTHDAY CC!! Our little girl is a year old. Family & friends from CA, brave souls they are, came to celebrate. It was one of those 20 degree “it’s nice out today” type of weekends, but the “nice out” part did not sit well with the CA crew. Friends from IA came up for the celebration. We did a luau theme for the party and we all thought warm thoughts. It really was a blast. Welcome to the world B3! I attended my first caucus, a little different from the CA primary. I saw CC take two steps by herself tonight.
Well in a nutshell there it is.
take care,
Kate
Minnesota Movin’
THIS WAS WRITTEN ON WEDNESDAY JULY 18TH
We’re packed, we’re moving. It really hasn’t hit me that we are actually moving out of state. There are so many thoughts going through my mind. I’ve had so much to do over these last few weeks that my mind has not processed the reality that I will no longer be living here. These past few weeks have been pure packing, our house looks like a box convention. Also, work has been a bit hectic, I promised my crew I would complete their training before my last day, and low and behold I got it done. Speaking of work today was my last day as the manager at the NC CVS. I was a little teary when I left, don’t think anyone caught me though. I did have to take a minute in my car before leaving for the last time. I still remember when I first started there, I never met a staff that worked so well together, it truly is a little “pharmacy phamily” Thank you to the very best staff in SD County, as I’ve said before you are the absolute best.
Tonight was an evening out to dinner with some close friends. A big thank you to those very friends who helped us pack the books, uhaul truck, and last minute misc packing. While eating my salad this evening I realized that in 6 days I’ll be living in a different state, starting over, making anew. It’s exciting and scary all at the same time. So many changes all at once; everyone always comments on the weather of course, but loads and loads of other thoughts cross my mind. Our house, (if it’s broke you fix it) childcare, a new position (with all of it’s new rules and regulations), and of course the big one I’m still getting use to, being a Mom to CC. On the flip side, we do have a beautiful house that we are in the process of owning, I guess the bank owns it until 2037. However we don’t have to ask the bank if we want to paint the walls neon green, convincing Richard would be another story though
. I am excited for all the new things about to happen. I’m excited to decide which cabinet will be the medicine cabinet and which half of the closet will be my half, well in all honesty more like two-thirds
. The cats seem to be okay with the whole moving thing, Churchill is hiding a little more than usual, but Gatsby seems to enjoy the adventure of making new pathways through out the box convention.
I recently found myself on myspace and I’m going to give it a go. We’ll see how it goes. At the moment it’s a bit frustrating because my high school buddies are all women (I did go to an all girls high school after all) and finding some of my class mates is a bit difficult because I do not know their married last name. Most require the friend request to provide the person’s last name or email. I don’t have this info, that’s why I’m on my space to find out. Hopefully I won’t get addicted, any suggestions Chuckles to avoid the addiction to my space?
Take care
PS Is it football season yet?
For the rest of my days.
I went to a graduation today, a very dear friend moves on to the next phase of her education. She is a very bright young woman with a very bright future ahead of her. I am proud to call her my friend. Watching her and her class cross the stage at their graduation ceremony got me thinking, as a matter of fact one of the members of the class made a speech and spoke about entering young adulthood.
Though I’ve been a legal adult for 14 years now it seems to have just hit me. The last five and a half years have been my transition into adulthood.
