I think it’s finally here, SPRING SPRING SPRING!!! Although this is Minnesota it’ll probably snow some more before this month is up. For now the snow has melted and the dog excrement has surfaced to the top, that’s okay, we’re fertilizing the lawn, the cheap way.
I’m enjoying life in MN, the community I live in is just wonderful, in December Santa rides throughout the neighborhoods on a fire truck, July is the annual national night out where families come together and shoot the breeze over brats & beer, and the weekly concerts in the park during the warm months where you can hear a polka band one week & a jazz group the next while you sit on your blanket having a picnic with your family.
I think it’s interesting that I grew up in a place where weather does not play a major role in life, but my daughter will grow up in a place with four definite seasons, will know the beauty of the first snowfall of winter & complain about it for the rest of the season.
It was 63 degrees today & we ate dinner outside on our deck. I still remember when 63 degrees was cold.
CC is a little gymnast these days, she and I have been in a toddler class for some time, she really enjoys the class, I never knew gymnastic floors were so springy, kinda fun to run on. That’s been our Tuesday thing for months; she’ll even be in a “Spring Show” in May.
Our other activity is swimming, she’s been in swim lessons on & off for just over a year. Today she was in the water with just her classmates & teacher, the Moms were in swimsuits ready to jump in if tears couldn’t be splashed away. CC did great in the water, but this leads me to a pet peeve. Okay, so I’m at the YMCA in the locker room & there are kids & adults changing for swimming or to go workout. One family is having a very loud discussion, a woman & two children. The adult proceeds to yell at the children and use profanity, I am very glad I was solo in the locker room. CC is at the age where she’s pretty much a tape recorder & repeats just about everything she hears, those are not words I want her learning right now. I just don’t think it’s appropriate for people to use poor language in a public confined space, and of all places the YMCA.
This starts me thinking about other tangents. Who decided what words were considered “bad words” and what makes them bad? What is the common factor for profanity? Why are some bothered by it and others not? As for me, I don’t generally use “bad words” in public or in a professional setting. I don’t like to hear it in public or in a professional setting, however I wouldn’t say I’m offended by profanity, just something that came to me 1:40 AM.
Did I mention I’m really digging LOST . . . thanks Team Koss.
take care,
